    Pearl!

    Jun 03, 2008 -- 8:08am

That's her! My new dog Pearl. She's an 11 month old Olde English Bulldogge. She didn't get along with other dogs that she lived with too well, so her lovely family gave her to me. She belonged to the woman who took our new pictures that you can check out on the pictures section of winknewsradio.com. Or go see her work at www.picturethisdowntown.com

I'm so happy to finally have a dog. They form a certain bond with people that is truly unique.

    Stupid Man!

    May 23, 2008 -- 5:51am

Ok, I'm going to try to blog more. It's one of things that seems like a huge pain in the butt until you actually just go and do it......like the gym.

I'm always on the look out for the "Stupid Man" ideology (that's what I call it) on TV or movies or anywhere. Why? Because there's a lot of it!

Now whenever I'm watching TV with my girlfriend and I see a "Stupid Man" commercial I yell out, "Stupid Man!!"  She really likes when I do that.

As a man myself, I'm sick of this bashing of men at every corner. I'm not saying we need to bash women instead, they've hurt their own gender enough on their own, thanks to the extreme feminist uprising. But jeez, there used to be a time, perhaps not too long ago where the man or father in the family was held with high regard and respect. I don't see much of that anymore....remember the show "Wait Till Your Father Gets Home?" Exactly.

Anyway, here's an example of a TV commercial I see a lot and it pisses me off every time....click below.

    Why they hate Romney

    Jan 31, 2008 -- 8:46pm

So you probably know that I am a Mitt Romney believer. I say believer not supporter because I actually believe in the man and what he is capable of if only John McCain was out of the picture. Six months ago...the scenario we now have playing out was the last thing I thought could happen...a non-conservative front runner for the republican party with a mainstream media making love to him on a nightly basis. Meanwhile, you have a great man, the most real conservative running (Mitt Romney) ready and rearing to go, and somehow Florida only gives him a second place win. The salt in the wound is all the endorsements McCain is getting (I.E. Charlie Crist, Rudy Giuliani, The Governator...) I don't know if endorsements matter to voters, I know they don't to me. But it got me to thinking...why does it seem there is so little support for Romney from Republicans and republican presidential candidates. So I looked around the internet some and found this great article from the American Thinker. Take a gander below...it makes a lot of sense and it's really unfortunate.

    • 1. He can win. Governor Romney appeals to economic conservatives and could appeal to foreign policy conservatives based upon his understanding of the issues. Most non-partisan foreign policy wonks who have briefed the major candidates tell me that Romney "gets it" better than any other candidate -- even better than those who have held high profile office for decades. Moreover, he is the candidate that the Democrats most fear.
    • 2. Jealousy -- from his hair to his appearance to his family to his money - these are all reasons for deep-seated, if unseemly, jealousy. This green-eyed monster makes its appearance in almost every speech or presentation, in the form of a joke, a jab or a veiled reference.
    • 3. He isn't beholden to interest groups. Governor Romney's wealth frees him from any influence that interest groups could apply to others - especially those who lack funds or who are Washington insiders. He doesn't need them, and that scares the interest groups and their allies. He is not of the game and wants to change it - and his personal wealth allows him to do so. He really can change Washington.
    • 4. His brains - not only is he one of the smartest people ever to seek the presidency (having earned a Harvard MBA and JD simultaneously), but he understands the complexities of the issues that America faces and is able to devise workable solutions. Just look at his proposal for an economic stimulus and compare it to what the other candidates are proposing. Romney clearly can lead this country through economic challenges.
    • 5. His wealth -- again. While he has raised more than any other candidate, Governor Romney doesn't need to raise the money in order to continue. Nevertheless, he understands that successful candidates must have people invested in their candidacy in order to succeed. He has learned the lessons of past wealthy businessmen who make vanity runs for the White House. The other candidates have to constantly raise money in order to continue their campaigns.
    • 6. His experience. The rest of the Republican field has been in politics in one form or another for most of their adult lives. Governor Romney came to public service after having a successful career in which he directly created jobs, saved jobs, invested in new companies and turned around failed businesses. He even fixed both the Olympics and the failing state of Massachusetts. More than any other candidate, Governor Romney's experience is most directly applicable to the average American's situation.
    • 7. He believes that America's best days are ahead of it, and not a memory. Governor Romney is a man of the future, not of the past. He sees America as a beacon of freedom for the entire world, and not a country limping toward its last days. His infectious optimism is informed by his business experience, his love of country and his family values. His can-do spirit is the antidote to defeatism masked as "straight talk" or "reality."
    • 8. His beliefs. When all else fails, Governor Romney's opponents attack his religion in the hopes of sowing fear and loathing. Not only is this unseemly, but it is dangerous. We have seen this type of rhetoric before - in the 1920's and 1930's - from the likes of Henry Ford and Father Caughlin and others who sought to disenfranchise whole segments of the American population. Governor Romney believes in the common American faith of democracy and religious freedom, as he so eloquently stated in his speech "Faith in America." These are the values our Founding Fathers codified in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.

    Radiohead

    Oct 11, 2007 -- 6:14pm

Well if you don't know....I am a lover of all music. From Shostakovich to the beatles to well....Radiohead! Radiohead is one of those bands that few people know about and that they "say" they've listened to but in reality maybe they've listened to one song or part of ONE song and automatically decided that they sucked and that they weren't for them. I think we've all been guilty of this. I did the same thing with countless different acts. But I think if you are going to ban a band, at least LISTEN to a whole CD of theirs by yourself and decide if you like it or not. There's nothing wrong with disliking a band, but there is something wrong with disliking a band without knowing what they actually sound like. The members of Radiohead are HUGE libs...but I'm sorry but I can't help but to love their music. If you can't seperate the sound of music from everyday life then that's a big problem. And the great thing about their newest CD is that I didn't have to give them money...which may have gone to their liberal causes. Anyway, it's free...listen to it!

    Here we go....

    Oct 10, 2007 -- 5:30pm

So we got the blog functioning on our website today...I thought Mandy was just going to do one, but then she thought it'd be a great idea if Dave and I did one too! More work for me is how I see it! Anyway, from me you can expect commentary on life, music, and the stupid things that happen to all of us but are not worthy of putting on the air. Feel free to post comments on any of our blogs, but you do have to register to be able to do that. But it's really quick and easy to do so. Have fun!
